Aayla's recent work....

  1. Last night at the grocery store, about halfway through the shopping trip, Aayla starts repeating "Bite!" Now she's not yelling it or anything, but it is audible from the next aisle, possibly even two rows over. She was as happy as could be and just wouldn't stop saying bite (loudly)! I'm not even sure she really wanted a bite of something. It was a random toddler moment.
  2. Only using the yellow bib. She will wrinkle her nose and shake her head if you even suggest using one of the others.
  3. Throwing her bowl, or plate, or cup, (you get the idea) over the side of her highchair when she is finished eating. She used to set them up on the counter so nicely. Now she looks right at me as I am running to grab the dish and DROP! there is goes all over the floor!
  4. Opening peanut butter crackers and licking the peanut butter off and tossing the cracker. She likes crackers. I guess she just likes peanut butter more.
  5. Saying "Whoa!!" to everything (something she most likely picked up from us in our endeavors to make her laugh).

Aayla has been cranky, winy, and very emotional the past two days. I was a little relieved when she woke up obviously sick with a cold this morning. I know, sounds terrible, but I was afraid our easy going, laid back little kiddo was gone for good and this was the beginnings of the terrible two's. Whew... (for now).

What a sport!!

Thanks Grandpa Jensen for being such a great toddler occupier!! While we waited at the airport for our plane ride home, Aayla decorated Grandpa with stickers. It's so awesome that Aayla is surrounded by such love!!

Bye Bye Vacation...

Technically vacation ended yesterday for Don and Wednesday for me. Boo hoo. We began our vacation by celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary. Don and I had dinner at the Portland City Grill (a tradition since we were married there 4 years ago). We stayed at the Embassy Suites downtown so we didn't have to drive all the way back out to the burbs. Thanks Grandma Carol for keeping Aayla so that we could have a night out!

We flew to Tucson, Arizona on Friday to visit Don's parents. We were on the plane for 5 1/2 hours (we touched down twice to pick up more passengers but we never left the plane) and Aayla was amazing!! I'm not sure what we did to deserve such an easy going, good little girl but I'm grateful for it every day!

We enjoyed tons of sun and great weather in Arizona.

Aayla had a good time visiting her Grandpa and Grandma Jensen. Saturday we took Aayla to the zoo and then swimming. She loved swimming...

While Don golfed, Sandra, Aayla and I did more than a little shopping!! It is so fun to shop for little girl stuff!! We all had a great time. A big THANKS!! to Grandpa and Grandma Jensen for everything! We look forward to our next visit.

Packing for our vacation...

Why is it that the smallest person in the house has the largest amount of crap?! Diapers and wipes, check! Blankets, check! Crib sheets, sippy cups, plastic dishes, check, check, check! Toys, books, Little Einstein video and snacks for the plane ride, check, check and check! Clothes (and lots of them because she can get pretty messy!), hats and sunscreen, swimsuits, shorts if its warm, long pants if its cool, shoes and a light jacket... all check! Nail trimmers (because her nails grow at lightening speed!!), first aid kit, tylenol, baby monitor, carseat, stroller... you get the idea!! Obviously, the person who decided that a child riding on a lap doesn't get extra checked luggage was NOT a parent!! Well, I'm off to squeeze my things into Aayla's two suitcases...
