A Little Tumble....

Well, we had our first (and hopefully last) experience with taking x-rays on a toddler. Poor little Aayla has had a bit of a limp after falling off the couch on Monday. After almost 48 hours with no visible improvement, we decided to take her to the doctor. Other than the limp, she had been acting completely normal... eating great, running around and playing, and not showing any indications that she was painful. Well, the doctor thought it would be a good idea to take some x-rays. The x-ray tech strapped Aayla's arms down and I had to hold her legs still while we x-rayed both legs. She of course was NOT happy about this but I must say that she handled it all pretty well. We all did. The x-rays didn't show anything abnormal and by later that night the limp was much improved. One more new experience in our journey of parenthood.

Happy Birthday Little Buddy!!

My nephew Owen celebrated his 2nd birthday today. (Technically he'll be two tomorrow). The kids had a blast with balloons, chocolate caramel cake, and opening presents! Thanks Aunt Jody for having us all over and sharing Owen's birthday with us! We'll see you on Saturday for Aayla's party! Here are a few pics from the festivities...

Daddy and Aayla Day Take Two

Don is enjoying this week off from work. While I was hard at work on Wednesday, he and Aayla took a trip on Max to the Oregon Zoo. They had a great time!! Aayla got to see bays, raffs, unkies and efants. (bears, giraffes, monkeys, and elephants!!)

Oh What A Night....

Aunt Jody took Aayla Boo overnight for Don and I so that we could have a night out with friends. Al, Don and I met up with Mellisa and her most adorable friend Sunny. We had dinner at our friend's Thai restaurant and did a little bar hopping downtown. It was such a fun night and we have the pictures to prove it ;) Needless to say, we all got about 3 hours of sleep last night, but definitely well worth it!! Thanks you guys for a really great night!!

A First....

We started swim class again... finally! We had our first class today. It is held in a warm, salt water pool and it was fantastic!! This class is different from the earlier ones as it really teaches water safety and swimming (as opposed to just water acclimation). The swim center is located right next door to Don's work so he is able to join us during his lunch hour! It couldn't be more perfect! We had a great time swimming in the warm water and I was even brave enough to put Aayla under the water for the first time. I must admit it was a bit scary and it took a lot of nerve to do it but Aayla did great! She got a little tired and overwhelmed right towards the end of class, but I think overall she had a good time and will be excited for class next week! I know I am!!

Summer Fun!!

On Monday, Aayla and I enjoyed the day with the boys, my sister, grandma, my aunt Marcia, and my Aunt Dory, who was visiting from Calgary. We had lunch and then played in the pool and ran through the sprinkler. What a perfect summer day!

Welcome Home Mate!

Our good friend Alphonzo arrived in Portland for a visit a week ago Friday. He used to live here in Portland, but a few years ago, he and his wife Simone moved to Australia. It's been about a year and a half since we've seen him and it is great having him home! So far, we've enjoyed many good meals, lots of sunshine and awesome company!
